Rules for identifying works deposited on the "Associated Art Collectors" website

When you upload a work to the "Associated Art Collectors" website, in addition to the description of the work, you are invited to upload up to five (5) different images presenting various aspects of your work.   For example: the unframed work, the framed work, the back of the work, the artist's signature, photo of the certificate, etc.

It is important that these images be of the highest quality.  This is crucial to the success or not of the presentation of your work and its possible sale.   Remember that works must be photographed at right angles, without blurring or distortion, etc.  Non-compliant images will have to be resubmitted.

The identification of the images themselves must respect a specific identification scheme.   "Identification" refers to the name associated with a specific image at the time of saving.   For example: you retrieve an image from your computer. At the "Save as" command you must produce an identification, i. e. any name that will allow you to save this image and eventually find it.

The generic backup format you will need to adopt is as follows:  Artist name_Title of the artwork_Name of the selected extension.

For example: the main image used for a work by Riopelle entitled "Rendez-vous" will be the following:  Riopelle_Rendez-vous_princ

The extension "princ" indicates here that this is the main image (photo of the work without any frame).

The main possible extensions:

  • princ: indicates that this is the main image presenting a picture of the work without any frame
  • sheet: indicates that this is the image showing a photo of the work, plus the margins where, in the case of prints, the edition mention or signature is often found.
  • encad: indicates that it is the image presenting a photo of the framed work
  • back: indicates that it is the image with a photo on the back of the work, framed or not
  • sign: indicates that it is the image presenting the signature of the work
  • edition: indicates that it is the image presenting a photo of the edition of the work (ex: 34/75 in the case of a print)
  • cert: indicates that it is the image presenting a photo of the certificate of the work

The objective of this approach is to be able to easily and quickly associate your images with the work you are presenting.   This will make life easier for both you and us.
